Cozy Fall Home Tour
Grab a cup of hot apple cider and join me on a cozy fall tour of our home for seasonal styling inspiration that engages each of the five senses.

A cozy home is essential during the season of fall. There is no better feeling than walking through the doors of our home on a brisk autumn day to a warm, inviting, cozy space. I love the ambiance, warm textures, & spicy scents that welcome our family home. That warm, cozy fall feeling can easily be achieved in any home by creating an atmosphere that engages all five senses. The more you can “sense” coziness with each of the senses, the more at home you, your family, and your guests will be.

So…sit back, get comfy, and enjoy a tour of our home for inspiration on how to create your own cozy fall home using each of the senses.

Blogger’s Best Fall Home Tour
To celebrate the start of fall, I am joining 29 blogger friends on a week long, fall home tour. I love taking a peak inside someone else’s home and finding inspiration! This Bloggers’ Best Fall Home Tour is hosted by Kelly at The Tattered Pew. You can find links to the other home tours at the end of this post.

If you are coming here from The Pond’s Farmhouse, welcome! I love Rachel’s ideas on how to add budget friendly, fall décor to your home. Rachel always inspires me with her unique, eclectic, and collected style.

Welcome to Our Cozy Fall Home
If this is your first time stopping by Eleanor Rose Home, welcome and thank you for being here! I’m Heidi, the creative mind behind ERH. My family and I are lucky enough to call New England home, which I think might be the prettiest place to live in fall! I love creating a cozy home for my family with new & collected décor, natural elements, textures, and of course seasonal touches.

Cozy Fall Kitchen
I love being in the kitchen the most during the fall months. After grilling and eating most of our dinners outside during the summer months, filling our home with the delicious scents of comforting, oven baked food during the cooler months makes our home feel so cozy.

You can always find fresh baked goods in our kitchen during the fall. 3 ingredient pumpkin muffins are a cozy fall favorite of ours. What tastes and smells like fall more than pumpkin, cinnamon, and cloves?! I like to take advantage of seasonal flavors, because before you know it, the season is over and we are on to the next!

Last spring, we added a peg rail and shelf to this area of our kitchen. It has quickly turned into my favorite area in our home to style.
I recently added a few small touches of Halloween to our kitchen peg rail and shelf. We are not huge Halloween fans in our house so the Halloween décor in our home is more on the spooky side rather than scary. The spooky ghost garland was a fun DIY, and is the cutest addition to our peg rail.

These glass bon bon jars are a favorite among ERH followers! These jars are not only beautiful on our kitchen countertops, but are functional too. You can shop these bon bon jars, here.

Natural, seasonal elements are essential in our home. For spring it’s tulips & daffodils, summer it’s hydrangeas, and for fall it’s oak leaves, pumpkins, and rich fall colored flowers. This pumpkin centerpiece is the perfect natural & seasonal addition to our cozy fall kitchen décor.
For more on this gorgeous heirloom pumpkin centerpiece, check out this post!

As we move from the kitchen into the dining room, this side entrance to our home is another favorite area of mine to style. Over the summer, we added these adorable gold sweet home signs with hooks. The side door leads to our pool area, so this spot was perfect for hanging towels and other essentials for the pool over the summer.
With the pool now closed this door is not used much. So, I simply added a DIY oak leaf wreath (see how I made it, here) along with a cozy shawl, and a pair of rain boots for intentional, seasonal styling.

Cozy Fall Dining Room
The dining room is the latest update to our first floor. This room was actually what we called “the library”, with a long sofa in front of the fireplace. We sold the antique sofa, and moved our kitchen table into the now dining room. The dining room is still a work in progress, however we are now able to gather here as a family for dinner or family game night.

We placed this rug in the dining room. The rug has a thick, cozy texture, a simple plaid pattern, and ties the entire room together beautifully.
The décor on our dining room table is very simple with more natural, seasonal elements that include pumpkins and oak leaves. For a more formal dining table, I recently styled this fall tablescape with the help of Birch Lane.

To create this informal tablescape, I started by adding a gingham tablecloth to the table. I added an olive bucket with oak leaves right from our yard to the table with a brown, satin ribbon for a whimsical, romantic touch. Then, I placed a stack of faux pumpkins with a few real small white pumpkins sprinkled throughout. Finally, I added a group of candles to complete this simple, cozy fall tablescape.

You will notice candles in almost every room of our home. Lighting is key for the look of a cozy fall home. The warm light of a candle, fireplace, or lamp is essential in creating a cozy atmosphere in any room.
I can’t wait until it’s cool enough to have the glow of the pellet stove filling our home too!

The antique dresser next to the pellet stove is another new addition to our downstairs. We had this glass cabinet here before, however I was craving something with a little more character & warmth. I accidentally stumbled upon this dresser on Facebook Marketplace, and it’s been love ever since!

Demijohns are one of my favorite vintage items to utilize in our fall décor. I placed an odd number of them on top of the dresser and then filled each one with hydrangeas from our yard. The color and texture of hydrangeas as they dry out are just gorgeous, don’t you think?
To tie the dresser in with the dining room table, I added a few more of the small white pumpkins and scattered them among the demijohns.

Cozy Fall Living Room
Our cozy fall living room is where we gather the most as a family. We love to snuggle in blankets on the sofa with one of our favorite fall movies on the television. As much I love peace & quiet, there is no better sound than a movie we love on the TV with giggles coming from the kids on the sofa.

To create the coziest fall living room, I like to switch our pillow covers from the light linen fabrics of summer to cozy woven and bouclé’s for fall. Thicker textured pillows along with warm neutral colors make the sofa as well as the living room feel warmer and inviting.

Here are a few of my favorite textured fall pillows for a cozy couch; this cozy teddy faux fur pillow cover from Pottery Barn, this woven plaid pillow from Studio McGee, and this floral block print pillow from Target.

Throw blankets are another must for a cozy fall living room. We have throw blankets scattered throughout our living room so that when someone is chilly, they can easily grab a blanket, and snuggle on the couch.
Some of the cozy throw blankets I’ve been shopping for are this pom pom sherpa blanket, this striped throw, and this chunky hand knit throw. We currently have this inexpensive plush throw blanket on our couch (it’s very warm & cozy) and it happens to be Eleanor’s favorite!

I’ve been intentional & purposeful with the décor in our built-in bookshelves this year (read more on what I mean by intentional décor, here). I’ve kept the styling very simple with books for reading, baskets for storage & texture, and lamps for a cozy atmosphere.

The window seats built into our bookshelves are a great place to sit and peek outside, especially on rainy or snowy days. It’s the perfect spot to sit with the lamp on and a good book in hand on a cozy autumn day!

Our Favorite Cozy Fall Movies
Here are a few of our favorite fall movies to get cozy on the couch and watch as a family. Do you have favorite fall movies you like to watch as a family?
- Harry Potter Series
- Planes, Trains, & Automobiles – We only discovered this movie a few years ago and laugh so hard each time we watch it!
- Hocus Pocus
- The Goonies
- Hotel Transylvania
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
- Matilda
