The countdown is on.

We are two weeks away from Christmas Eve, and I can feel it.

Can you feel it too?

This is the point in December when a bit of panic typically starts to set in for me.

I start double checking that every online order has arrived in the mail while also making mental notes about the gifts I still haven’t purchased.

And without fail, this is also when I realize there aren’t enough hours in the day to get all the Christmas ideas out of my head and into your hands the way I hoped to in September.

Sigh.

They do say with age comes wisdom, so I’ve realized through the years that not everything I want to accomplish, is going to get done.

The presents will be bought and wrapped for sure, but maybe the Christmas cookies won’t all get baked, and maybe the garland on the mantel won’t get styled quite the way I pictured.

And that’s ok.

Because at the end of the day, the heart of the season isn’t about those things, it’s in the moments we actually get to enjoy with the people we care most about.

If a few things fall off the to-do list, the world will still turn and the holidays will still be the holidays.

Melt 1 (12-ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 (12-ounce) package butterscotch chips together in a microwave using 30-second intervals, or over a double boiler, until smooth. Stir in 4 to 6 cups crushed potato chips (Ruffles or shoestring potatoes) and, if desired, 1 cup chopped nuts or 1 teaspoon canola oil. Drop spoonfuls onto the lined sheet and let set at room temperature for 45 to 60 minutes, or chill to firm. Store in an airtight container.

ANSWER TO #7: The modern image of Santa Claus as the friendly, jolly old elf in a red suit was solidified in the 1930s by illustrator Haddon Sundblom. He created a series of warm, cheerful Santa illustrations for Coca Cola Christmas advertisements, which helped fix this now familiar look in popular culture. White Christmas was the first tune played in space.
