After a couple of weeks of loose schedules, little-to-no routines, and days that all blurred together, I’m more than ready to get back into the swing of things.

I loved the holiday slowdown.

Sleeping in a little, staying in pajamas longer than I should admit, and genuinely having no idea what day of the week it was.

But after a while, I start to miss structure.

Do you feel that way too?

Not the overbooked, color coded calendar version, but just enough routine to feel like a functioning human again.

We’re kind of in that weird in-between time.

The decorations have come down (in our house anyways), life is starting back up, and we’re easing back into normal without jumping in headfirst.

So this week I’m giving myself a little grace, embracing a somewhat typical routine, and a home that feels fresh and cozy enough to handle real life again.

Suzy | Worthing Court

Weekly Wednesday Wish List #238 Worthing Court bowl full of pine cones and candle on table.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: With the business of the holidays behind us, I love the simplicity of a bowl filled with nothing more than pinecones. And the clear glass of the candle holder makes me think of crisp, icy winter mornings. I’m hoping that these frosted pinecones aren’t the closest that I get to snow here in central NC though!

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Lighten up your rooms after Christmas by swapping heavy holiday textiles for softer winter layers like neutral throws, knit pillows, and simple linen or cotton fabrics. This keeps your home feeling cozy while creating a clean and calm look for the new year.

3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that winter is one of the most important times to wash throw blankets and pillow covers? With windows closed and heat running, fabrics tend to trap more dust and allergens.

  1. Hi Mary, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I actually agree with you more than you might realize. I truly believe our homes should be filled with things we love, that feel welcoming, comfortable, and lived in. Trends are never meant to be rules here, and they’re definitely not something anyone has to follow. I like to think of them more as inspiration or ideas you can take or leave. My goal is never to tell anyone that something they love is “out,” but instead to help people feel confident mixing what they already have with a few thoughtful updates if they want to. A cozy, welcoming home that reflects the people who live there will always matter more than what’s trending.

  2. While I love all your content and look forward to the blog and Instagram posts, I’m always concerned when people talk about ‘decorating that is out.’ Shouldn’t we decorate our homes with things we love and enjoy seeing. I’m concerned about my home looking welcoming and clean. Should we focus more on what really counts than following trends?
