I feel like I have to be completely honest with you…
I was not feeling very inspired or motivated during the month of December, which is typically not like me.
I’m not sure what my problem was.
Maybe it was a little burnout after a very full few months.
Maybe it was starting Christmas content back in July.
Or maybe it was the loss of a beloved family member right after Thanksgiving that weighed heavier than I realized.
Honestly, it was probably a mix of all of it.
But I knew one thing for sure, I couldn’t wait for the week between Christmas and New Year’s.
It’s the week I take off every year, and this time, I really needed it.
I stepped away from social media, stopped worrying about the blog or sales goals, and gave myself permission to just be.
And it worked.
Instead of creating for others, I turned my focus inward.
I started restyling little areas around our home, not to share, not to photograph, not to meet a deadline, but simply because it felt good.
In that “off” time I realized two things…
First, how much I truly love decorating our home.
Not as content, but as a creative outlet that brings me genuine joy.
It reminded me that sometimes the simplest things like moving decorations around, layering what I already have can be the most fulfilling.
And second, how much I love what I do.
Even during the times when creativity feels harder to come by, the Eleanor Rose Home community means more to me than I can put into words.
I want this to serve as a reminder for both you and I, that it’s okay to slow down.
It’s okay to step back, rest, and create without a purpose attached.
Sometimes the best inspiration comes when we stop chasing it and simply allow ourselves the space to breathe and do what feels good.
