Mr. ERH’s prayers were answered over the weekend when we finally got our first measurable snow of the season.

I could take it or leave it, but I will say…

There is something about a snowstorm outside that makes the whole house feel cozier.

Or maybe it’s just my state of mind.

When the snow starts falling, my brain immediately shifts into, “I gotta make this place feel as warm as humanly possible.”

I suddenly feel the need to clean the house, get something warm cooking in the crockpot, put a familiar movie on in the background, turn on every lamp and light every candle for the glow.

I don’t know why this happens, does it happen to you too?

It’s almost instinctive.

Like I want the inside of our home to feel calm, warm, and taken care of when everything outside feels cold and quiet.

Whatever it is, I guess it makes the winter days, not quite as bad.

So if Mr. ERH is hoping for more snow this season, I suppose I can find the silver lining, as long as there’s something cozy happening inside our home.

Heidi | Eleanor Rose Home

Weekly Wednesday Wish List #240 Eleanor Rose Home vase with hydrangeas and candle on the kitchen counter.

1. DECORATING SMARTER, NOT HARDER: Some of the coziest homes are styled with everyday items that are already being used and loved. It’s an easy way to add warmth and character without buying more or creating extra work.

2. COZY TIP OF THE WEEK: If you find framed art you love but it feels a little too “new”, try removing the glass and brushing Mod Podge directly over the print. It dries matte with soft brush marks that make the artwork look older.

3. BEST REAL TOUCH FAUX FLOWERS…EVER: Do you love hydrangeas but want something that lasts? Well I fell in love with these real touch hydrangeas last year and have been adding them throughout our decor this year. They look unbelievably realistic, work year-round, and are some of my most asked about stems.

4. LITTLE THINGS I’M LOVING:

  • Um, I think I need this. So charming!
  • Pricey, but these beautifully cozy kitchen towels look like heirlooms.
  • This gorgeous sideboard cabinet is HUGE and on sale.
  • Because your bananas should look good on display.

5. FROM MY KITCHEN TO YOURS: I turned those iconic heart shaped Little Debbie treats into no-bake cake pops because sometimes your belly craves a little nostalgia. They’re simple to make and perfect for when you want something sweet without much work.

6. UPDATING MY WARDROBE:

  • The coziest pajama pants, with the coziest matching top. I bought the dog and heart print.
  • This Vera Bradley quilted jacket is 50% off and absolutely fantastic!!!
  • I can’t stop, won’t stop sharing these jeans. You’ve been loving them too because they continue to be a bestseller in my Walmart shop.
  • One of the prettiest vests I’ve ever seen with the rose print. On sale for less than $30…mind blown.

7. MAKE THIS WITH ME: A heart topiary makes the prettiest Valentine decoration. All you need is a wire hanger, faux ivy, a vase, and a bit of Styrofoam. Shape the hanger into a heart, secure it in the vase with Styrofoam, then wrap and fluff the ivy until it looks full.

8. OVER ON THE ‘GRAM: Just when I thought our kitchen couldn’t get any cozier…it did! Thanks to this addition.

9. WEEKLY MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

“Your home should be the antidote to stress, not the cause of it.”

Peter Walsh

10. FREE SPRING DECOR: Decorate your home for FREE with our printable spring art!

Suzy | Worthing Court

Weekly Wednesday Wish List #240 Worthing Court wooden shelf styled with decorations.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: Having finally located these shelves several months after our move, I am totally enamored with how they look hanging above the toilet in our guest bathroom. For now, I have them styled with bits from my stash, but I’m on the hunt for a couple of different pieces.

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Use baskets to corral everyday winter items like blankets, books, or slippers. Baskets add texture and warmth while keeping rooms tidy and functional during the colder months.

3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that rotating your mattress at the beginning of the year helps it wear evenly and extend its lifespan? Many homemakers used to mark January as mattress-turning month.

4. FAVORITE RECENT PURCHASE: My favorite purchase this week is small, but mighty. I needed a place to hold the leashes for my dogs, so that they weren’t always piled in a chair in the living room. I was very pleasantly surprised with the pair of the adorable hanging baskets that I found from Amazon. You’ll find them in the Organization section on my Amazon page. See the link below.

This week I added a section with my favorite needlepoint finds to a new section of my Amazon favorites. Click HERE to take a look!

5. LOVELY LIVING AND BEYOND: Return to Simple Meals. January is a good time to enjoy comforting, uncomplicated food. Soup simmering on the stove and shared meals at home nourish more than the body.

6. READER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: “How can I organize papers and mail without letting them take over?” See #10 for the answer!

7. WEEKLY AWESOME FINDS:

  • This still life wall art has a timeless, understated look that feels right at home in almost any space.
  • This strawberry hearts tea towel adds a charming, nostalgic touch to the kitchen that feels both simple and timeless.
  • This scalloped-edge coir doormat has such a classic, welcoming look right at the front door.
  • This bench has such a timeless, graceful look with its classic lines and soft cushion.

8. WEARABLE STYLE:

  • This dress is such a classic, elegant staple with beautiful drape and timeless appeal.
  • These heart statement earrings have a classic, polished look that feels special without being overdone.
  • This striped tweed jacket has such a classic, polished look that never goes out of style.
  • This striped heart sweater feels playful yet classic, the kind of cozy piece that’s easy to wear and easy to love.

9. HOME HACK: Wash or vacuum lamp shades for brighter light. January’s shorter days make lighting more important than ever. Cleaning lamp shades allows more light through and instantly brightens a room.

10. ANSWER TO READER QUESTION (#5): Create one designated spot for incoming papers and deal with them daily. Sort immediately into recycle, file, or act. A simple system you actually use is far better than a complicated one that looks good but never sticks.
