Sometimes life has a way of making you slow down, even when you don’t want to.

I’ve been fighting an annoying head cold for the past week which has made me hit the brakes from my usual go-go-go pace.

I’m not great at slowing down, I like to be busy.

But when your energy is limited, you start choosing what actually feels doable and worth your time.

Lately, that’s meant fewer projects and more simple comforts around the house.

Easy comfort food recipes (give me all the soups) instead of anything complicated, simple DIYs, and little cozy touches that make home feel warm.

It’s been a reminder that creating a cozy home doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing.

Sometimes it’s just about doing one small thing that makes the day feel a little better.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: Arranging furniture in our new-to-us small living room has been a real challenge, but I think I’m finally happy with the direction that its headed. Next step – hanging draperies so that I can get some artwork on these blank walls!

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Incorporate soft curves through rounded accessories like bowls, lamps, or mirrors. Curved shapes balance out straight lines and add a welcoming feel that works especially well.

CULINARY CORNER: One Pot Marry Me Chicken Pasta: In a large pot over medium high heat, cook oil from 1/2 cup oil packed sun dried tomatoes with 1 pound cubed boneless chicken, salt and black pepper to taste, and 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning until cooked, remove chicken; add 2 tablespoons salted butter, 2 cloves garlic chopped, and remaining 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning, cook 1 to 2 minutes, add 3/4 to 1 pound short cut pasta and 2 cups water, cook until al dente, stir in 2 cups whole milk, 2 ounces cream cheese, and 1/2 cup grated parmesan, return chicken with chopped sun dried tomatoes and 2 cups chopped baby spinach, remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil, serve.
