Ever since I shared our Amazon Echo Show in our kitchen, I’ve received a TON of messages basically saying…

“How do you display art on your device, I can’t figure it out!”

And I totally get it.

When I first set ours up, I went down a rabbit hole trying to find the best way to display vintage art without it looking cheap or pixelated.

There weren’t many resources out there, so I knew I had to put together a full guide to help you.

Now, here’s the best part…

Everything I’m sharing in this post is completely free.

You don’t need to head to the store to buy an expensive Samsung Frame TV and you don’t need any paid subscriptions.

All you need is the YouTube app and the devices you already own.

I’ve rounded up my favorite YouTube videos for displaying beautiful vintage art on your television and/or Amazon Echo Show, plus I’m walking you through exactly how to set it up.

Even if you’re not tech savvy, I promise adding art to your electronic devices is way easier than you think!

Why display art on your TV or Amazon Echo Show?

I’m going to be completely real here.

A television that’s off is one of the least attractive things in a room.

There I said it.

It’s a giant black void that draws your eye in, no matter what other decorations you have.

But turn on vintage art masterpieces, natural landscapes, or a classical portrait?

It instantly changes the look and the feeling of any room.

And here’s the thing…you’re already paying for internet.

YouTube is free (nope, you don’t need a subscription or even an account).

There are entire channels dedicated to sharing gorgeous, high-resolution vintage artwork, all designed to look like a real painting on your screen without it costing a dime.

Why You’ll Love Displaying Art on Your TV

  • BUDGET FRIENDLY – It’s completely free to set up with devices you already own.
  • CUSTOMIZABLE – Switch up the style, mood, or season whenever you feel like a change.
  • INSTANT DECOR – It turns a black screen into a beautiful focal point in seconds.

Do free YouTube art videos work on any television?

If your television has the YouTube app (most smart TVs do) you’re good to go.

Here’s a quick breakdown even if you don’t have a smart TV:

  • Smart TVs (Samsung, LG, Sony, Vizio): Open the YouTube app, search for any of the channels I’m sharing below and hit play.
  • Non-Smart TVs: Plug in an Amazon Fire TV Stick or Roku Stick, download the YouTube app, and you’re all set.
  • Amazon Echo Show 15 & 21: These have a built-in Fire TV mode with the full YouTube app available.
  • Amazon Echo Show 5, 8 & 10: YouTube isn’t natively built in as a standalone app, but you can access it by saying, Alexa, open YouTube” to jump straight there.

COZY TIP: If you’re displaying art on a regular smart TV, don’t leave a static image running 24/7 as this can cause pixel burn-in over time. Samsung Frame TVs, LG Gallery Edition TVs, and Amazon Echo Shows are designed to have something on the screen at all times, so feel free to let that art run all day!

My Favorite Free Vintage Art YouTube Videos

Now for the best part of this blog post.

I’ve spent way too many hours scrolling through countless YouTube channels (a couple of my favorites are Museum Ambiance and Art for Your TV by 88 Prints) so you don’t have to and I’ve handpicked the videos that I keep coming back to again and again.

Trust me, once you start exploring, you’re going to be obsessed!

When you’re browsing YouTube channels for free art videos, skip anything that displays art inside of a decorative frame.

A frame within a frame on an electronic device looks weird and takes away from that real gallery feel.

Trust me on this one, go for the clean, frameless videos and you’ll love the result so much more.

What to do When You Find a YouTube Video You Love

If you find a video you want to display over and over again, here are a few things I always do to make sure I can find it again easily…Like the video so it saves to your Liked Videos playlist on YouTube. Save it to a playlist called something like “Home Art Display” and add all your favorites in one place. Subscribe to the channel that way you’ll be notified whenever they upload something new.

COZY TIP: Using the right words when you search YouTube is key to finding exactly what you’re looking for. Use terms like “vintage art TV screensaver,” “classical painting ambient display,” “4K oil painting TV,” or “vintage art slideshow” and you’ll find endless options across every style and season.

Helpful Tips for the Best Art Display Experience

Free vintage YouTube artwork videos for any electronic device.
  • Adjust Your TV Settings: You can reduce brightness and up the contrast a little for a more painting like effect, especially in darker rooms.
  • Mute or Go Ambient: Most vintage art videos have no music or very soft background music which can be nice for dinner parties or a relaxing evening.
  • Make it Full Screen: Make sure the video is in full-screen mode with no YouTube UI visible. On some TVs, pressing the remote’s full screen button after the video starts will hide the player controls.
  • Pick Long Videos: Look for videos that run 2–8 hours so you’re not constantly restarting. Many channels offer extended slideshows specifically for this purpose.

The Frame TV Alternative Without the Frame TV Price Tag

I won’t lie, the Samsung Frame TV is genuinely beautiful.

But it starts anywhere from $500 to over $3,000, plus a monthly subscription for their art store.

If that’s not in your budget right now (or ever, I feel ya!), YouTube is the perfect workaround.

You get access to thousands of hours of vintage and classical art, completely free, on whatever screen you already own.

Is it exactly the same?

No.

The Frame TV has a special matte finish that reduces glare and makes images look more like real paintings, especially in bright rooms.

But I have to say that a good smart TV with YouTube art looks just as good as you’d hope, and most people will never know the difference.

COZY TIP: Mr. ERH built a simple DIY wood frame around our smart TV and it completely transformed the look. Paired with a beautiful vintage art video playing on YouTube, it looks like real art hanging on the wall. It’s an easy upgrade and makes a huge difference!

Frequently Asked Questions About Free Art on YouTube

Is displaying YouTube art on my TV actually free?
Yes, it’s absolutely free to display vintage YouTube art on your devices. The only thing you need is a smart TV or a device like a Fire Stick, Roku, or Echo Show to access YouTube.

Can I display vintage art on my Amazon Echo Show?
Absolutely, I do it all the time. Echo Show 15 and 21 users can download the full YouTube app. Owners of other Echo Show models (5, 8, 10) can access YouTube by saying “Alexa, open YouTube.”

Will leaving art on my TV damage the screen?
For regular smart TVs, it’s best not to leave a static image running 24/7, as this can cause pixel burn over time. Use it for a few hours when you want a pretty picture on display. Samsung Frame TVs and LG Gallery Edition TVs (and Echo Shows) are designed specifically for continuous displays.

What should I search for on YouTube to find free vintage art?
Great search terms include: “vintage art TV screensaver,” “classical painting ambient TV,” “4K oil painting display,” “vintage art screensaver,” or “classical art slideshow.” You can also search by season like “spring art TV” or “winter painting screensaver.”

Do YouTube art videos have music?
It varies by channel. Some are completely silent and some have soft classical music. You can check the video description before playing to know what to expect.

How long do the free art slideshows run?
Many are designed specifically for ambient display, running anywhere from 30 minutes to 8+ hours. Look for “extended” or “long” in the title if you want something that runs for hours without needing to restart.
