I am a mother of two beautiful children (& a fur baby). Wife to a supportive husband, who has been the love of my life for the last twenty-one years. I am an Iowa native but have spent most of my life in Massachusetts. I am an Operations Coordinator for a landscape company, and recently an 8th grade homeschool teacher (thank you COVID). I am a perfectionist, introvert, and anxiety sufferer. I am a self proclaimed “homebody”. I love spending time with my family, organizing & decorating my home, home improvement projects, wrapping Christmas gifts (I don’t think I have ever found another lover of gift wrapping!), and shopping (my husband can attest to that as well as the mail delivery services).

Our Family

I have no design degree or professional decorating experience (I thought going straight to work after high school was a good idea, ha!). However, I have always been told that I have sense for style and fashion. I take inspiration from other bloggers, Pinterest, and the many random ideas that pop into my head. I love a warm farmhouse-cottage style with traditional elements, lots of wallpaper, and clean lines. I can’t stand clutter, and believe that everything has a place. I have an innate need to constantly throw things away to remove clutter which drives my family crazy (I may have created two pack rat children)! Some spaces in my home are updated multiple times until just the right look is achieved. This drives the husband crazy, but sometimes I have to get the idea out or I can’t stop thinking about it!

Our Family

When not working or doing the things I love you will find me on the couch with my Yorkshire Terrier/Dachshund mix, Eleanor Roosevelt curled up in my arms with the husband sleeping on the next couch over. She is my spirit animal and the inspiration for my blog name. We rescued Ellie from Arkansas 6 years ago, and she has been the apple of our families eyes ever since!

I want to share with you my decorating ideas, the things I love, and the random thoughts that pop into my head! I hope to bring the love of a warm, cozy home into your space. Home is where the heart is and there is no place like home.

I think you guys know how much I love fresh herbs from growing them in a garden, to using them in recipes & simmer pots. But I’ve never thought to add fresh herbs to a wreath, until now. I’ve been exploring ways to use the fresh herbs from our kitchen window box in unique ways (other than in new recipes) and decided to try something new and add a few sprigs of rosemary to a grapevine wreath and well, I’m in love! I love the natural & organic look, and the smell is absolutely divine while I’m working in the kitchen. If you’re looking for a new way to use fresh herbs, you need to give this DIY a try!🌿 Tell me…Are you a morning person who can’t wait to get up in the am and start a new day, an afternoon person because you’re neither a morning or night person, or like the majority of my family a night owl? Me personally, I’m a morning person. I love my morning routine, getting things done before everyone gets up, and imagining all the possibilities a new day has to offer. This weekend might be a different story…it’s going to be cold and rainy so I may just enjoy a couple of mornings sleeping in with Eleanor snuggled next to me. Window cleaning hack! This is not a sponsored post, just me sharing a product I love & have used for years with you. My mom gave me a set of these microfiber glass & polishing cloths years ago and I’ve been using them ever since. All you need is water & a cloth, and your glass & mirrors will shine without streaks! I always had the hardest time cleaning our windows without leaving streaks until I tried these cloths. When your done, you throw the cloth into the washing machine for use again and again. So, if you’re looking for an easy, economical, and efficient way to clean your windows without chemicals give these microfiber cloths a try. I think you’ll love them as much as I do! I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and were able to take a few minutes today to remember the true meaning of the holiday. I am forever grateful for those that have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms that I know I so easily take for granted. Thank you for your service and you are not forgotten.❤️ It’s Memorial Day weekend…are you ready?! If not, here’s a couple of ideas to get you there. Nothing says summer more than a pitcher of old fashioned lemonade! Give it a twist with frozen blueberries. They not only add a little color & flavor to your drink but will keep the lemonade cool too. And, don’t forget a few flowers! They’re the easiest way to add a little festive patriotic spirit to your weekend. Take those drinks along with the flowers and enjoy time with family & friends! As you relax with your loved ones this weekend, it’s important to remember why we get to enjoy a long weekend…those that made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. You are not forgotten, we honor & remember you.❤️ Simple patriotic decor in the kitchen!🇺🇸I have not always been a fan of patriotic decor, in fact I think it’s just been the past couple of years that I’ve started adding it to our home decor from late May through 4th of July. I guess I thought it was kind of tacky with the tinsley decor you see in the stores. However, what I realized is that patriotic decor doesn’t have to be what you find in the stores, and it doesn’t have to be over the top either. When I realized these things, that’s when I began adding it to our decor. Small, simple patriotic touches are really all you need to bring that Americana feeling into your home. For instance in our kitchen, I added seasonal flowers, swapped out our kitchen towels for blue & white ones, and made my own patriotic felt flags. That’s it! I love how it doesn’t feel over the top but we’re still able to enjoy a little pop of red, white, and blue for summer.❤️
