It’s Memorial Day weekend…are you ready?! If not, here’s a couple of ideas to get you there. Nothing says summer more than a pitcher of old fashioned lemonade! Give it a twist with frozen blueberries. They not only add a little color & flavor to your drink but will keep the lemonade cool too. And, don’t forget a few flowers! They’re the easiest way to add a little festive patriotic spirit to your weekend. Take those drinks along with the flowers and enjoy time with family & friends! As you relax with your loved ones this weekend, it’s important to remember why we get to enjoy a long weekend…those that made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. You are not forgotten, we honor & remember you.❤️ Simple patriotic decor in the kitchen!🇺🇸I have not always been a fan of patriotic decor, in fact I think it’s just been the past couple of years that I’ve started adding it to our home decor from late May through 4th of July. I guess I thought it was kind of tacky with the tinsley decor you see in the stores. However, what I realized is that patriotic decor doesn’t have to be what you find in the stores, and it doesn’t have to be over the top either. When I realized these things, that’s when I began adding it to our decor. Small, simple patriotic touches are really all you need to bring that Americana feeling into your home. For instance in our kitchen, I added seasonal flowers, swapped out our kitchen towels for blue & white ones, and made my own patriotic felt flags. That’s it! I love how it doesn’t feel over the top but we’re still able to enjoy a little pop of red, white, and blue for summer.❤️ #ad Summer is just around the corner, and summer entertaining just got a whole lot easier thanks to @sternoproducts . No matter what kind of parties you'll be hosting this summer, a delicious, hot meal is essential to a successful event. But without the right preparation your food can turn cold & unappealing. With Sterno's wire rack chafing dish, you won't have to worry about keeping the food at your next event warm. With its easy set up you simply place the wire racks on a table, fill the water pans with hot water, light the fuel, and put out the food pans filled with your delicious party food for your guests. Your food stays warm for hours which means that's one less thing you have to worry about! #ad The arrival of warmer weather means many of us will be entertaining family and friends throughout the season from graduation parties to showers, BBQ’s and family gatherings. With the help of @sternoproducts I was able to host a summer pasta party and keep our pasta dishes warm & tasting their best throughout the event with the sustainable & biodegradable chafing fuel. DIY patriotic felt flags! When I saw my friend SJ @cozyvintagelife share patriotic decor the other night, I spotted the cutest felt flags in her captures. As soon as I saw them, I knew I needed to DIY my own! I’m so glad I did, because I discovered something I’ve never done before but really enjoyed…sewing. My original plan was to glue the stars to the flag but when I did that I realized it needed more texture. So I reached far back down into memories of my 7th grade home economics class, and was able to sew the stars to the flags. It was so relaxing and therapeutic that I can’t wait to sew something (simple lol) again soon. Who knew! For all of you who can sew…don’t look too close at my stitches!!! Do you ever have one of those days when things don’t go as planned? Well that was my day today! I had a whole reel planned sharing the patriotic hanging door basket on our front door…but Mother Nature had other plans. The wind was so crazy that is was blowing my phone stand over, kept blowing the basket off the door, and the pollen…that’s a whole other issue. Everything is covered in a thick coat of yellow & green. So…here I’m sharing option 2! A patriotic basket on hanging hooks inside the house. I have more patriotic decor ideas planned which I’m hoping to start adding to the house this weekend for our summer home tour next week. Anyways, I hope your Wednesday included less sneezes and was much better than mine!
