A simple, stylish fall tablescape with new & collected pieces is the perfect setting for a fall get-together or Thanksgiving dinner.
Fall is here and that means more time will be spent around the dining room table with friends & family over the next few months. Therefore, creating a beautiful fall tablescape is a must for entertaining guests. Tablescapes do not need to be complicated or over the top to be beautiful & impactful. In fact, simple more organic tablescapes are some of my favorites. They tend to feel warmer, cozier, and more inviting.
For our fall tablescape, I decided to create a simple, stylish, and cozy tablescape with pieces we already had in our home and then I incorporated a few new pieces I received from Birch Lane.
Birch Lane has been one of my go-to online shopping destinations for years. I know when I visit their website, I can count on finding handpicked affordable, classic, quality pieces that I will use in our home for years. Birch Lane offers a variety of merchandise for the home including furniture, rugs, lighting, home accents, seasonal décor, and so much more.
How to Create a Fall Tablescape
A tablescape refers to all elements of a table setting. The easiest way to begin styling a tablescape is to decide on a theme or color palette. Then include these key elements:
- Tablecloth, Runner, Place Mats
- Glasses, Stemware
Let’s take a look at a few of these elements and how I incorporated them into our fall tablescape with a little help from Birch Lane.
To start putting together this fall tablescape, I began by adding a tablecloth to the table.
This brown & white gingham tablecloth was one I already had in our home, which I thought would work well with the simple & stylish fall theme I envisioned for our table.
Linen and cotton are wonderful fabrics to choose from when looking for a tablecloth for a fall tablescape. Gingham and plaid are perfect pattern options for fall as well as toile, and one of my current favorites, block print.
These tablecloths from Birch Lane would be a beautiful base for a fall tablescape.
Table runners are another great option as a tablescape base, instead of a traditional tablecloth.

- Penkridge Table Runner
- Farmhouse Pottery Table Runner
Fall Tablescape Centerpiece
With a Garland
The centerpiece of the table is where your creativity can come alive. Have fun with what you create to be the star & center of the tablescape!
Keeping with the simple & stylish theme, I used this fall garland from Birch lane as the centerpiece for our fall tablescape. I love the muted fall colors and organic elements which include corn husks, pinecones, acorns, ferns, and gourds.
Using a garland as a tablescape centerpiece is an easy way to fill up the center of the table, without having to do too much.
Before placing the garland down the center of the table, I fluffed the garland to make it look full & realistic. I also carefully ironed the corn husks to remove the wrinkles and folds from shipping. Once the garland was fluffed and ironed, I simply draped it down the middle of the table.
These garlands from Birch Lane are great centerpiece options for a fall tablescape.
- Pumpkin Husk Garland (This is the garland I used for our fall tablescape.)
- Faux Bittersweet Garland
- Buri Palm Leaf Garland
- Reed Garland
- Faux Mixed Assortment Garland
- Diane Faux Magnolia Garland
- Olive & Berry Garland
To add a little visual interest to the pillar candles, and to add an organic touch, I hot glued dried orange slices to the sides of the candles.
I love the pop of orange this gave to the fall tablescape. I mean, how cute does that look?!
To make your own candles with dried orange slices, you will first need to dry orange slices. You can find out how to do that, here.
With a hot glue gun, place a bead of hot glue all the way around the perimeter of a dried orange slice. Quickly, place the orange slice onto a wax candle and hold. Do this all the way around the candle.
That’s it! You have your own dried orange pillar candles!
The hot glue should only be placed on the orange slice, do not hot glue the candle.
Be extremely careful not to burn yourself adhering the orange slice to the candle.
I have only done this on a wax candle. I am not sure if this same technique would work on a flameless candle.
With the tablecloth down and the centerpiece set; it’s time to set the table with dinnerware.
I like to mix and match dinnerware for a stylish, collected look. For this fall tablescape, I used our white Wedgewood wedding china along with these Spode Delamere brown & white salad plates from Birch Lane.
I love the pop of color & print the Spode salad plates add to our table. It looks absolutely perfect for fall!
Fall Tablescape Napkins
Napkins are an easy way to add texture and pattern to any table in any season. Have fun with your napkin selection, and how you display them on your table.
When I saw these adorable cotton napkins with frayed edges on Birch Lane’s website, I knew they were going to be the perfect addition to our fall table.
The napkins were the final element of the table, and I was able to use the napkins as a way to bring the entire tablescape together.
To do this, I added a few dried lagurus to the top of the napkin. Then, tied a bow around the napkin with a small, cream satin ribbon with a dried orange slice. I love how these beautiful napkins completed our fall tablescape!
Here are some other great napkin options from Birch Lane that would be perfect for a fall tablescape.
- Cotton Napkins With Frayed Edges (These are the napkins I used for our fall tablescape.)
