Ingredients You'll Need for Baked Calico Beans:

In a large Dutch oven brown hamburger, chopped bacon, and diced onions together over medium heat. Cook until the beef is no longer pink, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Step 1:

Using a slotted spoon remove the cooked ground beef, bacon, and onions from the Dutch oven. Set aside in a bowl, leaving the drippings in the pot.

Step 2:

Stir the ketchup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, and black pepper into the drippings. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently.

Step 3:

Allow it to simmer for 1-2 minutes, or until it thickens slightly and all the sugars are dissolved.

Step 4:

Add the cooked ground beef, bacon, and onions back into the Dutch oven. Then, stir in all the beans. Mix until thoroughly combined.

Step 5:

Place the lid on the Dutch oven and transfer it to your preheated oven. Bake for about 1 hour, or until the mixture is heated through and bubbly.

Step 6:

Once done, carefully remove the Dutch oven from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving, then enjoy!
