How to Make a Gorgeous Pumpkin Fall Centerpiece

Heidi Samia | Eleanor Rose Home

Wow your guests with an elegant fall centerpiece utilizing a real heirloom pumpkin and seasonal fresh florals that only takes minutes to create.

Let me show you how!

Pumpkin Centerpiece Supplies

– 10" Round Heirloom Pumpkin – Glass or Plastic Vessel  – Clear Tape – Sharp Carving Knife – Sharpie – White Roses & Marigolds – Chamomile & Golden Rod – Ecualyptus – Droopy Fall Accent Flower

Find a Vessel to Place Inside the Pumpkin

Find a vessel that will easily fit inside your pumpkin. I had this glass bowl which was the perfect width and height for our pumpkin.

Cut Out Outline of Bowl

Trace the widest part of the bowl around the top of the pumpkin with a sharpie. With a sharp knife, cut out the outline of the bowl on the pumpkin.

Remove Seeds & Pulp

Remove the top of pumpkin and all of the seeds & surrounding pulp from inside of the pumpkin, discard.

Create a Grid With Tape

Create a grid on top of the vessel with clear tape. This will help to keep the flowers in place when creating the arrangement.

Gently Push the Bowl into the Pumpkin

Place vessel inside the pumpkin, and carefully add water to the vessel.

Arrange Flowers

I like to start my arrangements by adding a few of the larger flowers in groups, and then adding in the smaller “filler” flowers around the larger  flowers as I go.

The flowers around the outside of the centerpiece should be shorter with longer flower stems toward the middle of the arrangement for height.

Continue adding flowers around the arrangement until vessel is completely filled in. I like to save the droopy stems until the very end and add those to the outer edges of the arrangement.

There is no right or wrong way when arranging flowers. A beautiful centerpiece should look natural, organic, and free flowing.

Finish Your Centerpiece

Turn your pumpkin around and look at it from several different angles. If something looks bare, add in a few more stems.

I placed our heirloom pumpkin centerpiece on a wood slice on our kitchen island, but it would also be the perfect addition to a fall tablescape.

Where can I display my pumpkin centerpiece?

Since this centerpiece is made with a real pumpkin and fresh flowers, your centerpiece will last anywhere from 3-5 days.
