9. CULINARY CORNER: Slow Cooker French Onion Soup: In a large nonstick pan, melt 3 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat, add 3 large white onions, sliced, and cook about 20 minutes until golden and caramelized. Transfer onions to a slow cooker and add 64 ounces reduced-sodium beef broth, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 clove garlic, minced, 1/3 cup dry sherry, 4 sprigs fresh thyme, and 1 bay leaf. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Discard the bay leaf, then ladle soup into oven-safe bowls, top each with 1 to 2 slices dry French bread, 1 1/2 cups shredded Gruyere, and 6 tablespoons shredded Parmesan, divided evenly. Broil 2 to 3 minutes until cheese is melted and lightly browned.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: Most of my Christmas decor is still in boxes after unexpectedly spending the last 10 months selling a house, moving, renovating, unpacking, and settling in. I wasn’t able to much decorating this year, so I’ve been living vicariously through last year’s Christmas decor. Here’s to next year!
