Ingredients

  • 6 cups Red, White, & Blue Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 5 1/2 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted Butter melted
  • 6 oz White Chocolate Chips
  • Patriotic Sprinkles
  • 12 Paper Treat Sticks

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows to melted butter and stir until completely melted. Remove pan from heat.
  • Add red, white, and blue Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Stir until well coated.
  • Using a buttered rubber spatula or a piece of parchment paper, evenly press mixture into a 13" x 18" half sheet baking pan coated with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Allow the mixture to cool and set for about 30 minutes.
  • Once set, use a 3" star shaped cookie cutter to cut out the Rice Krispie stars. Place a treat stick up through the bottom of each star, and place the star shapes on a wax paper lined baking sheet.
  • Melt the white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave at 20 second intervals until all of the chocolate is melted.
  • Pour melted chocolate into a piping bag (or ziplock baggie with a small tip cut out) and drizzle chocolate over the star shaped treats.
  • Sprinkle star sprinkles on top, and allow chocolate to harden for about 30 minutes before serving.
  • Arrange the star treats on a platter or standing up in cups and serve!
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze individually wrapped treats for up to 1 month.

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows. Older marshmallows can be dry and won’t melt as smoothly.
  • Melt the butter and marshmallows over low heat to avoid burning or hardening the mixture.
  • Lightly butter your spatula, cookie cutter, and even your hands to prevent sticking when pressing and cutting the treats.
  • Let the treats set fully before cutting. This helps the stars keep their shape when you push in the sticks.
  • If you’re in a hurry, pop the tray in the fridge for about 15–20 minutes to speed up the setting process.
