Equipment

Materials

  • Orange Slices
  • Whole Fresh Cranberries
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Fresh Rosemary Sprigs
  • 4 cups Water

Instructions

  • In a medium sized pot combine the sliced oranges, fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and rosemary sprigs.
  • Fill the pot with about 4 cups of water, covering all of the ingredients.
  • Place the pot on the stove over medium heat.
  • When the pot begins to simmer, turn the heat down to low.
  • Continue to simmer, uncovered for up to 2 hours.
  • Replenish water as needed to avoid the stovetop potpourri from drying out.

Notes

    • Keep your simmer pot on low heat to gently release the fragrance. Simmering too vigorously may cause the water to evaporate too quickly.
    • Check the water levels periodically and add more water as needed to prevent the pot from drying out. This will ensure a longer lasting and more consistent aroma.
    • Adjust the quantities of ingredients based on your preferences. If you prefer a stronger scent, add more spices and herbs.
    • You can reuse the ingredients for a second or even a third simmer session. Just add more water and continue enjoying the delightful fragrance.
    • Tailor the simmer pot to your liking by adding or omitting specific ingredients.
    • If you prefer a longer lasting simmer pot, transfer the ingredients to a crock pot and set it on the lowest heat setting.
    • Always monitor the simmer pot while it's on the stove, and turn it off when you leave the house.
