In a small mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest with a hand mixer until smooth.
Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles.
With a spoon, spread an even amount of the cream cheese mixture between the 16 triangles.
Roll each triangle; starting at the widest point, and place each crescent onto a baking sheet.
Bake crescents for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
While rolls bake in the oven, combine the glaze ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until smooth, adding orange juice a bit at a time, as needed.
Remove crescents from oven and immediately drizzle with glaze.
Serve warm, and enjoy!
Notes
This recipe can be made with the lower fat crescent roll dough. I used Pillsbury butter flake crescent roll dough.
Either full fat cream cheese or 1/3 less fat cream cheese can be used to make these orange crescent rolls.
No vanilla extract? Almond extract is often used in this recipe. I did not have that on hand, so I used vanilla extract instead.
Make smaller versions of these orange crescent rolls by cutting each crescent roll triangle in half with a pizza cutter.
Don't love the flavor of orange? These rolls can be made with lemon, lime, or grapefruit zest. You could make these rolls for fall by omitting the citrus zest & juice and using pumpkin or apple pie spice for tasty fall treats. Your imagination is the limit with these rolls!
