Yield: 1 Small Pot

Materials

  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Apple
  • 2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 5 Star Anise
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 tsp Whole Cloves
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 4-5 cups Water

Instructions

  • Slice the orange and apple into thin rounds.
  • Place the orange slices, apple slices, pumpkin spice, star anise, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and vanilla into a small pot.
  • Pour in 4-5 cups of water, making sure the ingredients are submerged.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat. Keep an eye on the water level, adding more as needed to keep the ingredients covered.
  • Let the pot simmer for several hours. You can leave it on the stove throughout the day, just be sure to add water as it evaporates.

Notes

  • You can reuse the same simmer pot mix for up to 2-3 days. Simply store it in the refrigerator overnight and add fresh water when you’re ready to use it again.
  • Feel free to add other fresh ingredients like cranberries, whole spices, or even a splash of apple cider for a twist on the classic pumpkin spice scent.
  • If you prefer, you can use a slow cooker instead of the stove. This allows you to keep the simmer pot going all day long without worrying about it drying out.
