Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp. Salted Butter
  • 1 bag Mini Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 8 oz. White Chocolate Chips melted
  • 20 Mini Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter on low heat and then add the mini marshmallows. Stir together until the marshmallows are completely melted.
  • Remove from heat, add in Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well combined and the cereal is evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.
  • Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish and evenly press the Rice Krispie treats mixture into the pan. Place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to harden.
  • With a sharp knife, cut the Rice Krispie treats into 10 rectangular pieces. Place white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl, and melt in the microwave according to package directions.
  • Place the melted white chocolate into a ziplock bag and cut a small slit in the corner. Drizzle the chocolate across the top of the mummies in a random pattern to resemble a mummy wrap. Repeat with additional Rice Krispie treats. Place chocolate chip eyes on to each mummy. Allow the chocolate to harden and set, then enjoy!

Notes

    • Fresh marshmallows melt more smoothly and evenly than old ones. Make sure your marshmallows are not expired or stale for the best results.
    • When melting the butter and marshmallows, use low heat and stir continuously to prevent them from scorching or sticking to the pan.
    • Once you add the Rice Krispies to the marshmallow mixture, work quickly to combine them. The mixture can become harder to shape as it cools.
    • Consider adding a touch of vanilla extract or almond extract to the melted marshmallow mixture for extra flavor.
    • Allow the mummies to cool and set on the wax paper before decorating. This will prevent the chocolate from melting upon contact.
    • Don't be afraid to get creative with your mummy designs. Each one can have its own unique look. Some can be heavily wrapped with "bandages," while others can have just a few strategically placed lines.

    • When done, soak your utensils and pan in hot, soapy water immediately to make cleaning up easier. The marshmallow mixture can harden quickly and be challenging to remove.
