Five Steps to Building the Perfect Lemonade Bar

I think you’re going to find that building a lemonade bar is easier than you might think, especially with the help of MacKenzie-Childs beautiful products.

Follow these five simple steps to transform a simple spot into a stylish and inviting lemonade bar.

Step One: Choose the Location

The first step in creating a lemonade bar is deciding where you’re going to set it up.

If you’re hosting this event during the height of the summer heat, you probably want to consider choosing a shaded area to keep both your lemonade and your guests cool.

A spot under a large tree, a covered patio, or a gazebo can be great locations.

Just make sure there’s enough space for guests to gather around comfortably to enjoy their drinks.

Because it’s been incredibly hot & humid in our neck of the woods this summer, I decided to set our lemonade bar up in our kitchen next to our sliding glass doors so guests could choose to stay inside (where it’s cool) or head outside.

If you decide to set up your lemonade bar indoors, I suggest finding a bright area near a window or door to keep the cheerful vibes of summer going.

Step Two: Gather Your Supplies

Once you’ve chosen the right location, it’s time to gather all the necessary supplies to create a stunning and functional lemonade bar.

MacKenzie-Childs Pieces

The easiest way to add style to your lemonade bar is by incorporating iconic MacKenzie-Childs pieces.

MacKenzie-Childs Sterling Check tumblers for lemonade.

Here are some of the items you’ll need:

  • Trays: Use these to display your lemonade pitchers, glasses, and garnishes.
  • Pitchers: Choose vibrant and patterned pitchers for serving lemonade.
  • Glasses: Feel free to mix & match MacKenzie-Childs patterns for a whimsical touch.
  • Small Bowls: Use small bowls to hold lemon slices, mint leaves, and other garnishes.

Don’t be afraid to mix different MacKenzie-Childs patterns! I personally love the combination of Sterling Check with Flower Market. This eclectic style will add a unique charm to your decor.

Drink Dispenser

Probably one of the most important components of any lemonade bar is the drink dispenser.

A clear glass dispenser is a great way to showcase your lemonade while also allowing guests to easily serve themselves.

I love this MacKenzie-Childs White Flower Market Beverage Hostess for serving drinks! The beautiful floral pattern adds a charming, vintage feel to the lemon theme.

If you prefer a more traditional look, the Sterling Check Beverage Hostess would be a great addition to a drink bar as well.

Decorative Elements

Most of the decor for the lemonade bar should be functional, but you could also gather a few fresh flowers along with some colorful straws & napkins for a pop of color and charm.

Garnishes

Prepare a variety of garnishes to let your guests customize their drinks.

Here are a few garnish ideas…

  • Lemon Slices
  • Mint Leaves
  • Fresh Berries (Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries)
  • Peach Slices
A little note

Prepare your garnishes ahead of time. Slice the fruit and store them in airtight containers in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use them. Also, wash and pat dry the mint leaves and berries so they’re ready to go when you need them.

Step Three: Set Up Your Lemonade Bar

Now that you’ve gathered all your supplies, it’s time to bring your DIY lemonade bar to life!

Organize Garnishes

Use small pinch bowls to neatly arrange garnishes like lemon slices, mint leaves, and berries.

Place them within easy reach of the drink dispenser for guests to customize their drinks to their liking.

I also like to have flavored syrups on hand for guests to add additional flavorings to their lemonade.

Step Four: Serve the Lemonade

With your lemonade bar set up, it’s time for serving the star of the show…lemonade!

You’ll want to make sure your lemonade is well chilled before serving by placing pitchers in a cooler filled with ice or keeping them refrigerated until you’re ready to serve.

Once it’s party time, fill the drink dispenser with homemade lemonade using our lemonade concentrate recipe.

Remember, it’s ok to take a little help from the grocery store here. I guarantee your friends or family will not know the difference!

Make sure to let guests know they can customize their lemonade with the flavored syrups and garnishes provided.

Serve refreshing lemonade in a drink dispenser so guests can easily pour their own drinks.

You can also offer still and sparkling water alongside the lemonade for those who might prefer a lighter option.

Throughout your party, monitor and refill the lemonades and garnishes as needed to ensure everyone can enjoy their refreshing beverages.

How much lemonade should I make for my event?

A good rule of thumb is to make about 1.5 to 2 cups of lemonade per person. I always like to make extra though. You never want to run out of food or drinks at a party…right?!

Lemonade Recipes

Allow guests the ability to create their own lemonade flavors with garnishes and syrups.
