Suzy | Worthing Court

Weekly Wednesday Wish List #263 Worthing Court entryway table.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: I am one happy camper that hydrangea season has finally arrived! This simple arrangement in my foyer makes me smile every time I pass by.

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Add one oversized plant or arrangement to a room instead of several small ones. A single statement piece creates more impact and keeps your space from feeling cluttered.

3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know clipping herbs from your garden or grocery store bundle into a small vase can smell just as lovely as fresh flowers in a kitchen?

4. FAVORITE PURCHASE: I needed blinds for the French doors in my basement and these fit the bill perfectly. Cordless, clean, simple lines, wonderful neutral colors, and a great price.

Find all of my purchased and loved decorating, gadget, and organizing favorites HERE .

5. LOVELY LIVING AND BEYOND: Pick up fresh peaches, a bakery treat, or flowers during your regular grocery run just because. Lovely living often grows from creating joy in ordinary moments instead of waiting for special occasions.

6. READER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: “What’s a simple way to update my kitchen without a full renovation?” See #10 for the answer!

7. WEEKLY AWESOME FINDS:

8. WEARABLE STYLE:

9. HOME HACK: Take a photo of your decorated shelves before changing them. When you swap seasonal decor, snap a quick picture. You’ll have a reference for what worked well when it’s time to style the space again.

10. ANSWER TO READER QUESTION (#5):  Change out small details. New hardware, a fresh towel, or a simple tray with everyday items can make the whole space feel updated.

4. THIS AND THAT: THIS is making a big comeback. See how to spot the real thing. Most of us do THIS, and here’s how to fix it. I’ve been waiting for THIS for six months; it premieres July 4th at 8:00 EST. THIS is my new craft obsession.

5. FABULOUS FINDS:

6. BEAUTIFUL HOME TOURS: First, let’s tour the beautiful home of designer and artist Susan Hable in Athens, Georgia, and then take a trip further south to tour Julia Amory’s stunning West Palm Beach home. Visit four homes in Georgia, each beautiful and with a different style. Last but certainly not least is the Pink House in Houston that is always party-ready.

7. FUN AND INTERESTING FACTS: What are tetrachromats? In general, why do women have a stronger immune system?

8. CURATED CLOSET:

9. CULINARY CORNER: Lemonade Poke Cake- Bake one 8×8 or 9×9 yellow cake. Cool 15 minutes. Mix 6 oz thawed frozen lemonade concentrate with 3/4 cup powdered sugar. Poke holes all over the cake with a fork and loosen the edges with a knife. Pour the lemonade mixture evenly over the cake. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Frost with white or lemon frosting and add sprinkles, if desired. Refrigerate until serving.

10. THE LAST WORD: My number one decorating tip is to shop your own home first. Swap pieces from room to room, freshen things up with a little paint or new fabric, and style a new vignette on your dining room table. For even more ideas, visit How To Decorate With What You Already Have.

ANSWER TO #7: Many women are tetrachromats. Due to a genetic mutation on the X chromosome, they can see up to 100 million colors and subtle shades that are invisible to others. Are you one? Women tend to have stronger immunity than men because of an extra X chromosome, which provides a double set of immune-related genes.
