It’s been incredibly hot here lately, which has me doing everything I can to make our home feel light, calm, and cool.

But at the same time…my brain has officially started drifting toward fall.

I have no idea how that happens, please tell me I’m not the only one!

In this week’s Wish List, I’m sharing simple ways to create a cozy summer living room, a delicious grilled zucchini recipe that’s become a family favorite, some fun finds I’m loving, and one of my favorite projects to start this time of year, homemade vanilla extract that’s ready just in time for holiday baking.

Heidi | Eleanor Rose Home

Weekly Wednesday Wish List #264 Eleanor Rose Home living room.

1. SUMMER DECORATING: It has been soooo hot here lately, so having a home that feels light, calm, and cool has been a necessity. Here are my 15 simple tips on how to make your living room feel fresh and cozy when it’s a billion degrees outside.

2. COZY TIP OF THE WEEK: If you’re already dreaming about fall (yes, I’m guilty), satisfy that cozy craving by making a simmer pot, organizing your seasonal decor, or creating a fall Pinterest board (see what I’m pinning for fall).

3. AMAZON FINDS: Shop cozy finds I’m loving on Amazon.

4. LITTLE THINGS I’M LOVING:

  • The coziest soup mug with a cross-stitch pattern. NEED!
  • This chaise lounge chair looks so incredibly cozy. Love the plaid fabric option.
  • Bought this wreath for our front door. Stay tuned to see how I customize it!
  • I was so excited to see that this needlepoint pumpkin pillow I bought for our home last year is back in stock.

5. FROM MY KITCHEN TO YOURS: I was never a big zucchini fan, until a few years ago when I started marinating it before grilling. My grilled marinated zucchini is tossed in a honey Dijon marinade made with lemon, garlic, honey, and olive oil. It’s become one of our family’s favorite summer side dishes!

6. UPDATING MY WARDROBE:

7. MAKE THIS WITH ME: This is the best time of year to make your own vanilla extract. Start a batch now, and it’ll be ready for all of your holiday baking (and homemade gifts) by Christmastime.

8. OVER ON THE ‘GRAM: My brain July 4th vs. my brain July 5th.

9. WEEKLY MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:

“May your walls know joy, may every room hold laughter, and every window open to great possibility.”

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: I’ll be starting to share a tour of our new-to-us house soon. This view looking into the foyer is me in a nutshell.

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Style your porch with containers in different heights rather than matching pairs. The variation creates a relaxed, collected look that’s full of character.

3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know hydrangeas drink more water than most cut flowers? Refreshing the water daily helps them last much longer indoors.

4. FAVORITE PURCHASE: Small ginger jars are great fillers on a bookcase. This one is on sale for under $35 and comes in multiple colors.

Find all of my purchased and loved decorating, gadget, and organizing favorites HERE .

5. LOVELY LIVING AND BEYOND: Simmer lemon slices and rosemary on the stove or diffuse a fresh citrus scent in the afternoon. A home that smells clean and welcoming has a way of making everyone feel more relaxed.

6. READER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: “What’s the secret to making a small space feel larger and brighter?” See #10 for the answer!

  • This chunky multi-color beaded necklace is such a fun way to add color to a simple summer outfit.
  • This cardigan comes in so many beautiful colors, and I love the longer length. It’s the perfect lightweight layer to throw over a tee or for a chilly restaurant.
  • This beaded handbag is definitely a splurge, but it’s absolutely gorgeous.
  • This cuffed sleeve top is less than $13 and looks so much more expensive.
