I feel like my cozy meter is turned all the way up right now.

I want apple butter simmering in the crockpot, a candle burning on the counter, and apparently every basket, gingham print, and cozy sweater I see to come home with me.

Basically, if it makes our home feel warmer, smells like fall, or looks cute with a pair of jeans and boots, I’m interested.

And this week’s Wish List is pretty much all of that rolled into one.

I’ve got a cozy pumpkin DIY that might be one of my favorites yet, some really good finds for your home and closet, an easy fall recipe, and a simple project that makes your whole house smell amazing.

1. COZY PUMPKIN DIY: You probably already know Halloween is not my thing, but that doesn’t mean I want to miss out on all the fun! These quilt carved pumpkins are my cozy cottage answer to the traditional jack-o-lantern, and the free PDF quilt patterns I created make them super easy to recreate in your own home.

2. COZY TIP OF THE WEEK: With fall and holiday entertaining around the corner…remove a fresh red wine stain by pouring white wine directly onto it. The white wine neutralizes the red, making it so much easier to blot away before it sets.

5. FROM MY KITCHEN TO YOURS: There is something about homemade apple butter simmering away in the crockpot that makes a home feel more like fall than just about anything else. My easy slow cooker recipe uses store bought applesauce as a shortcut so there’s no peeling or coring involved.

6. UPDATING MY WARDROBE:

Cozy sweater for the beginning of fall. HAVE AND LOVE.
Comfortable and affordable wide leg jeans that come in short, regular, and tall.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: I’ve been enjoying all of the cozy corners in my kitchen breakfast room lately. It’s one room that I can call officially done. Tour coming soon!

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Don’t overlook the inside of a glass-front cabinet as a decorating opportunity. Arrange pretty dishes, serving pieces, or collectibles so that different heights and shapes are visible through the doors. It turns practical storage into part of the room’s decor.

3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that mums naturally bloom as the days get shorter? Their flowering is triggered by longer periods of darkness, which is one reason they’re such a reliable sign that fall is on the way.

4. FAVORITE PURCHASE: The first step in my fall decorating has been to add faux dried hydrangea stems. These are just gorgeous and so realistic!

5. LOVELY LIVING AND BEYOND: Open the windows on the first cool morning and let the fresh air move through your home. There’s something about that first hint of fall that makes an ordinary morning feel like a fresh start.

9. Culinary Corner: Sausage and Wild Rice Stuffed Acorn Squash: Preheat oven to 425°F with rimmed baking sheet inside. Cook 1/2 cup rice blend per directions, fold in 1/4 cup cranberries, cover, rest 5 min. Trim a flat base on 2 halved, seeded acorn squash. Rub with 1 Tbsp. oil, season, and roast hollow side down 25 to 30 min, until tender. Heat 2 Tbsp. oil in skillet over medium. Cook 1 chopped onion 6 to 8 min, season. Add 8 oz. sausage, break up, cook 6 to 7 min until browned. Stir in 2 cloves garlic and 1 tsp. thyme; cook 1 min. Fold in 1/4 cup parsley and rice mixture. Fill squash halves with rice mixture, garnish with parsley.
