DIY Faux Pear Wreath: A Simple Fall Decor Idea
Shop This Post
This DIY faux pear wreath is the easiest fall decor you’ll make all season. A store-bought wreath, faux pears, hot glue, and ribbon…that’s it.

I know I get the itch to start decorating for fall long before most people.
Through the years, I’ve realized…I’m just weird like that, and that’s ok.
We all have our own weird quirks, right?
But I’m not talking about covering our house in pumpkins, colorful leaves, and scarecrows the minute July 5th arrives.
Instead, I like to ease into the season by adding timeless, cozy touches that hint at fall without making it feel like summer disappeared overnight.
Things like warm wood tones, baskets, dried hydrangeas, warm textiles, and faux pears help create that comfy, cozy feeling that I start to crave this time of year.
They’re subtle, classic, and transition nicely from late summer to autumn.
That’s what makes this DIY faux pear wreath so great.
It started with an ordinary store-bought fall wreath, but with a handful of faux pears, ribbon, and a little hot glue, it became a custom piece that feels cozy and perfect for welcoming the changing seasons.
So, if you want to slowly start changing your decor from summer to fall before pumpkin season arrives, I think you’re going to love this simple wreath makeover.
Fall Decorating With Pears

If you’re like me and enjoy fall decorating a little earlier than most, pears are a great way to ease into the season.
Pumpkins are an iconic symbol of autumn, but they can make it feel like you’ve skipped right past late summer.
Pears, on the other hand, have a timeless look that easily bridges the gap between the two seasons.
They bring in a little fall color without making your home feel overly seasonal.

How to Make Your Own Fall Decoration Using a Store-Bought Wreath
One of my favorite ways to personalize a store bought wreath is by giving it a simple makeover.

With this step-by-step tutorial, you’ll turn a generic fall wreath into a custom decoration that looks like it came from a boutique.
Here’s how…

Step One: Choose a wreath with plenty of greenery and open spaces where you can tuck in the pears. Mine already had fall leaves and branches, so all it needed was another layer of texture and color.

Step Two: Before reaching for the hot glue, lay the pears on the wreath and move them around until you find an arrangement you like. Evenly space the pears so that wreath looks balanced.

Step Three: Once you’re happy with the arrangement, use hot glue to attach each pear securely to the wreath. Hold each pear in place for several seconds while the glue cools.

Step Four: This step is optional, but I like to finish the wreath with ribbon. I kept it really simple by just tying the ribbon in a knot at the top of the wreath and letting the ribbon tails drape down.
Helpful Tips
- Don’t feel like you have to run out and buy a new fall wreath for this DIY project. If you have one tucked away somewhere that looks a little worn, add a few faux pears and a new ribbon to refresh it for fall.
- Pears aren’t the only fruit you can attach to your wreath. Faux apples, figs, pomegranates, persimmons, or small pumpkins would all make great additions.
- Lay the pears on the wreath first and step back to make sure you’re happy with the overall design before hot gluing them.
- Rotate the wreath as you work. Hang it up or stand it upright every so often to check that the design looks balanced from every angle.

Frequently Asked Questions About a DIY Faux Pear Wreath
What kind of wreath works best?
Almost any twig, mixed greenery, or grapevine wreath works well. Look for one with enough open space to add decorative elements.
What kind of glue should I use?
A hot glue gun is perfect for this project. If your wreath will be exposed to outdoor weather, you could add floral wire around the pears to attach them a little more securely to the wreath.
How many faux pears do you need for a wreath?
That depends on the size of your wreath and how full you want it to look. Five pears looked nice on our wreath, so that’s the amount I used.
Can I use apples instead?
Absolutely! Faux apples, figs, pomegranates, or mini pumpkins would all create beautiful variations of this wreath.
