Never. Never in a million years did I think I’d be writing a blog post about something called the “fisherman aesthetic.”

But alas, here we are.

I’ve lived in Massachusetts for nearly 40 years and for the past 20, just a short drive from the ocean.

You’d think that at some point I would have embraced all things nautical.

But if I’m being completely honest…

I’ve never been in love with themed coastal decor or want a closet full of anchor prints and seashell motifs.

That said, there’s been something about this current fisherman trend that I literally can’t get enough.

It’s not coastal in the usual sense.

Not preppy or polished.

It’s not the Nancy Meyers style we’ve all seen (and loved) with its crisp whites and soft blues.

Nope.

This one’s different.

Think Irish sailor.

New England lobsterman.

Or as I like to call it…coastal grandpa.

It’s textured, rugged, and moody.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself over the years, it’s this…if a trend involves cozy layers, nostalgia, and vintage charm, I’m going to be all over it.

There’s no driftwood art or pastel seashell prints here.

This aesthetic is saltier.

Earthier.

Moodier.

It’s like a foggy morning in an old harbor town, while you’re sipping on black coffee in a wool sweater watching the tide roll in.

Oh man.
