While I might not be a big fan of Halloween decor or costumes, the opposite is true when it comes to Halloween candy and treats (and scary movies by the way).

There’s something so fun about spooky themed sweets, especially when they’re as cute as these Halloween ghost peep s’mores.

I saw something similar to this s’mores kit idea online a few weeks ago (I apologize I can’t remember the source), and I knew I needed to make Halloween s’mores in our home this fall.

These s’mores are fun, easy to make, and they’re also a great way to spread a little Halloween spirit.

Whether you’re handing them out at a Halloween party, gifting them to friends or coworkers, or giving them as classroom treats, these party favors are going to be a hit.

Plus, with a free Halloween treat bag printable you can make them look like they came straight from a cute little candy shop!

What you’ll love about this DIY:

  • No tricks here, these treat bags come together in minutes, making them the perfect last minute party favor or gift.
  • The ghost shaped Peeps add a playful Halloween twist to classic s’mores, making them both cute and spooky!
  • You can easily switch out the ghost Peeps for pumpkin or Frankenstein Peeps, giving you the option to create a variety of fun, themed treat bags.
  • These s’mores kits are perfect for gifting to friends, neighbors, or classmates with the free printable tags and festive ribbons.
  • Not only will kids love the marshmallow ghosts, but they’ll also have a blast assembling and eating their own spooky s’mores.

What You’ll Need to Make the Halloween S’mores Gift Bag

Gather these supplies to create a fun Halloween treat…

  • Ghost Shaped Peeps: Peep ghosts bring a fun Halloween twist in place of traditional marshmallows. You could also use the pumpkin or Frankenstein shaped Peeps as well.
  • Chocolate Candy Bar: Classic milk chocolate works best, but you can mix it up with dark or even white chocolate for a little variety.
  • Graham Crackers: Grab a box of Honey Maid Fresh Stack graham crackers. These graham crackers are broken into squares already so you don’t have to.
  • Cellophane Bags: Clear bags to show off the s’mores content inside.
  • Ribbon: Choose any Halloween themed ribbon you like. Orange or black curling ribbon would also work well.
  • Free Printable Tags: I’ve designed a cute tag you can easily print, cut out, and attach to your bags.

Add the Ingredients to the Cellophane Bag

Start by placing two graham cracker squares at the back of the cellophane bag, followed by the chocolate candy bar, and finally the ghost peep in the front.

Close the Snack Bag

Take a 18″ long piece of ribbon and tie it at the top of the cellophane bag to close it.

Add the Halloween Tag

Print out the free printable Halloween tags I’ve created on cardstock, cut them out, and use a hole punch to attach them to the ribbon.

Then tie the ribbon into a bow.

The printable tag adds the perfect finishing touch to the treat bags!

Note: These treat bags are perfect for parties or gifting to friends and family, however I would not hand these out to trick-or-treaters. I would stick to pre-packaged, sealed candy for trick-or-treating to ensure safety for everyone.

How to Make the Halloween Peep S’mores

Making the s’mores is just as simple as assembling the bags, and the result is a gooey, delicious snack with a spooky twist.

Assemble the S’more

Place one graham cracker square on a microwavable safe plate.

Take the unwrapped chocolate candy bar and place it on top of the graham cracker.

Set the ghost peep on top of the chocolate.

Heat it Up

Microwave the s’more for 10-15 seconds, or until the Peep starts to puff up and the chocolate begins to melt.

Keep an eye on it so the marshmallow doesn’t over-inflate!

Top it Off

Remove from the microwave and carefully place the second graham cracker square on top.

Gently press down to create the perfect gooey s’more.

Tips
  • Mix things up by using other Peep marshmallows like pumpkin shaped or Frankenstein shaped ones.
  • Print the free printable tags on thick cardstock. This will make the tags more durable and professional looking. You can also use decorative scissors or punches to create fun edges around the tags.
  • These treat bags can be assembled 1-2 days in advance and then stored in a cool, dry place.

What size cellophane bags should I use?

I recommend using medium sized cellophane bags (around 4×9 inches is what I used) to fit all the ingredients snugly while still allowing you to tie the top with a pretty ribbon.

Can I use different kinds of chocolate?

Yes, you can swap out the milk chocolate for dark, white, or even Mr. ERH’s favorite, Reese’s peanut butter cups.

Have fun, get creative, and use whatever chocolate you’d like!

Such a fun idea, Heidi. I invited my bossy 6-year-old to make these smores with me. I was surprised to hear her say yes, and enthusiastically hop to the kitchen. I didn’t mean right then, but I knew I better put the carpet cleaning on hold because my daughter would not be waiting for me to finish. We had such a great time eating these together.
