I don’t know what it is about dips, but I find them so dang cozy.

Maybe it’s because they’re meant for sharing.

You put a bowl in the middle of the table, surround it with a bunch of delicious “dippers”, and everyone gathers around to grab a bite.

There’s nothing fancy about it, that’s probably why I love them so much.

And when you have a dip that involves apples, caramel, and cheesecake…

Oh man.

It feels especially cozy and absolutely perfect for fall.

This apple dip is light, fluffy, and creamy with caramel sauce folded into the cheesecake mixture so you get a little dulce de leche flavor in every bite.

Then it’s topped with even more caramel and crunchy vanilla wafers because, um hello, why not?!

Serve it with crisp apple slices and you have an easy fall treat that works for just about anything from Sunday football games to fall get-togethers and after-school snacks.

Why You’ll Love This Caramel Cheesecake Dip Recipe

  • Quick and easy to make. It only takes about 15 minutes of prep before popping it in the fridge to chill.
  • Light, creamy, and fluffy. Whipped cream gives the dip an airy, cheesecake-like texture that isn’t too heavy.
  • Caramel flavor in every bite. Caramel sauce is folded right into the dip and drizzled over the top for even more dulce de leche goodness.
  • Perfect for fall entertaining. Serve it with sliced apples for football Sundays, fall parties, Thanksgiving, or an easy dessert at home.
  • Easy to make ahead. Prepare the dip up to 24 hours in advance, then add the caramel and crunchy vanilla wafers just before serving.

The hardest part is waiting for it to chill in the fridge before you can dig in!

01

Make the Cream Cheese Base

Add the softened cream cheese, confectioners sugar, and vanilla extract to a large mixing bowl. Beat everything together until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

02

Fold in the Whipped Cream & Caramel Sauce

Gently fold the whipped cream and the caramel sauce into the cream cheese mixture until it’s almost completely combined.

Add the Toppings

Once the dip is chilled, transfer it to your favorite serving bowl. Drizzle additional caramel over the top and finish with crushed vanilla wafers.

Helpful Tips

  • Use full-fat cream cheese. It gives the dip a richer flavor and thicker, creamier consistency.
  • Let the cream cheese soften. Room temperature cream cheese blends much more easily with the icing sugar and vanilla.
  • Whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks. If the cream isn’t whipped enough, your dip can end up runny instead of fluffy.
  • Once the whipped cream goes into the cream cheese mixture, use a gentle folding motion. Overmixing can deflate the whipped cream.
  • Refrigerating the dip for at least 2 hours helps it firm up and gives it a more cheesecake-like consistency.
  • Add the vanilla wafers at the last minute. They’ll soften as they sit on the dip, so sprinkle them on immediately before serving for the best crunch.

Caramel Cream Cheese Apple Dip Substitutions and Variations

One of the best things about this cream cheese caramel apple dip is how easy it is to make it your own.

Try…

  • Mixing in a pinch of cinnamon, apple pie spice, or pumpkin pie spice for an extra layer of warm fall flavor.
  • Swapping the vanilla wafers for crushed graham crackers, pretzels, Biscoff cookies, shortbread cookies, or gingersnaps.
  • Sprinkling flaky sea salt over the caramel drizzle for a salted caramel version.
  • Adding crunch with chopped pecans, walnuts, or toffee bits over the top just before serving.
  • Drizzling melted milk, dark, or white chocolate over the finished dip.
  • Dipping sliced pears, strawberries, or bananas into the cheesecake dip instead of apples.

Frequently Asked Questions About Caramel Apple Dip

Why is my dip runny?
It’s probably the heavy cream. Make sure you whip it to stiff peaks before folding it into the cream cheese mixture. Overmixing after adding the whipped cream can also cause it to lose some of its light, airy texture. If the dip seems soft, don’t panic. Give it the full 2 hours in the refrigerator before deciding whether the consistency is right.

Can I reduce the sweetness?
Yes. You can slightly reduce the amount of powdered sugar since the caramel already adds quite a bit of sweetness.

How long does caramel apple dip need to chill?
For the best consistency, refrigerate the dip for at least 2 hours before serving. This gives it time to firm up and develop that creamy cheesecake texture.

Can I make this dip the night before?
You can make the dip up to 24 hours before you plan to serve it. Just wait to add the caramel drizzle and vanilla wafers until right before serving.

What apples are best with cream cheese caramel apple dip?
Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, and Fuji apples are all delicious choices. Granny Smith apples are great if you prefer something tart to balance the sweet caramel dip.
