Beergarita Recipe for Football Sunday

This beergarita recipe is the ultimate combination of a beer and a margarita that will leave you refreshed on game day or Cinco de Mayo!

Beergarita Recipe

With the super bowl less than a week away it’s time to start planning the most important part of watching any football game (in my humble opinion)…the food and drinks!

Even though our favorite hometown team “The Patriots” are not in the super bowl this year, we will still be watching the Rams and the Bengals battle it out this Sunday, all while gorging ourselves on unhealthy yet delicious football food. Game day food in our house consists of one or more of the following food groups; nachos, chicken wings, chili, pigs in a blanket, buffalo chicken dip, jalapeno poppers, pizza, and basically any other food that is not necessarily healthy for our bodies! As I like to say, everything in moderation. Am I right?!

While eating all of your football food this super bowl Sunday, you are going to need a yummy drink to wash it all down!

I recently stumbled upon this beergarita recipe and gave it a try this past weekend. It was tasty and delicious! While I do not typically blog about football, sports, or alcoholic drinks; this drink was so good, I knew I wanted to share it with all of you before the big game.

This recipe can be made virgin style, so if you are not a big “drinker” like me, you can still enjoy this refreshing drink with the tips I’ve included further down in this blog post.

What is a beergarita?

So, what is a beergarita? It’s a mix between a beer and a margarita! This drink tastes like summer on a tropical island (which right about now sounds pretty good!) but will also go perfectly with any football food you will be serving this Sunday or any other time of the year. The acidity of the beergarita cuts right into any greasy football food, making you feel, well slightly less guilty about indulging in all the unhealthy foods.

If you don’t serve beergaritas this weekend, save this recipe for the summer or Cinco de Mayo, I promise you will thank me later!

Ingredients for Beergarita Recipe

To make beergaritas you will need the following. This recipe makes about (4) 12 ounce drinks.

  • Limeade
  • Corona
  • Tequila
  • Triple Sec
  • Ice Cubes
  • Limes
  • Course Kosher Salt
  • Mason Jars
  • Disposable Paper Straws

To make your beergaritas, start by placing the kosher salt on a plate. Then zest one to two of your limes. Take the zest and mix in with your salt. This will add a nice lime flavor to your salt, which you will use to rim your mason jar. Juice the limes that you zested into a small bowl. Move the lime salt and the lime juice off to the side.

Now to the fun part, making the drink! In a large pitcher, pour the corona into the pitcher. Then add your tequila, triple sec, and limeade. I measured the alcohol as I poured them in but you could just eyeball the amounts and add more or less of each depending on your taste and the amount of alcohol you can consume. (I am a light weight and can’t handle much alcohol, so less is more!) Mix the beergarita with a wooden spoon or other utensil to combine all the liquids. Set pitcher aside.

Take your mason jars and one at a time and dip the rim into the lime juice that you had set aside earlier, then dip into your lime salt. Do this for each jar.

Add 3-4 ice cubes into each jar. Then pour your beergarita into each jar, filling all the way to the top. Squeeze a lime wedge into each drink. Add a straw and enjoy!

Not a big fan of alcohol or want to make something similar for the kiddos? You can make this a virgin beergarita by replacing the triple sec with orange juice, the tequila with cactus juice or nectar, and the beer with club soda or sparkling water!
